Job Description

Responsible for identifying, structuring, negotiating and underwriting new credit opportunities. Will also managing existing portfolio, develop appropriate recommendations for credit approval, ensure compliance with documented covenants and financial reporting requirements. Should be knowledgeable of and responsible for adherence to all our risk, control and compliance policies and procedures and have ability to implement changes as needed. Effectively communicate our Private Bank lending strategy and risk appetite. Operate with a sense of urgency, ability to work under tight and sometimes competing priorities. Establish a reputation of execution excellence. Gain confidence of relationship managers to fully develop the banking opportunities with their clients. Act as the subject matter expert for all inquires on private banking and lending products.

Understand competitive environment and develop strategies to retain and win new business. Ability to professionally screen, manage and/or decline transactions while maintaining strong relationships with RMs, regions managers, credit approvers and business heads. Develop solutions to new client financings or restructurings while insuring compliance with HBUS and GPB credit policies and credit FIMs. Balance objectives of client, new business generation and risk management. Strong relationship building skills and presence, understands importance of building credibility, has skills to influence and negotiate with senior leaders, relationship manages and clients. Have proven sales leadership skills, understands what drives new business, and how to interact with clients and prospective clients to develop high quality lending opportunities. Trains and advises relationship managers in the area of identifying credit opportunities, discovery and marketing credit products and solutions to their clients/prospects and centers of influence. Business development and revenue growth generated from credit products. Prescreening of all new loan requests. Preparation of credit memos and communication with senior management as appropriate.

Along with RMs, delivers and negotiates term sheets and letters of interest with clients and prospects, subject to credit approval. Insures that pricing meets all required ROA and ROE pricing hurdles. Conducting client reviews with relationship managers and other product managers to ensure full penetration. Assumes lead role in credit approval process. Complete and or supervise completion of all required CARMs. Direct analysis, due diligence and credit presentations. Recommend risk rating. Recommend and review documentation and close loans. Underwrite and execute both loan and derivative structures. Serve as primary contact on credit portfolio and/or key/complex borrowing relationships. Change debt structure/risk ratings in response to changes in risk. Actively work to maintain and improve portfolio quality and prevent loss. Stays abreast of legal and regulatory changes, industry trends. Responsible for the creation of business plan which identifies steps for meeting all business development, risk management portfolio quality goals and captures all balanced scorecard objectives

Basic Qualifications:

BA required
MBA preferred
Ten plus years experience and proven success in areas of both business development and risk management with credit products including, but not limited to, securities based lending, both purpose and non purpose, single stock lending, hedge funds and alternative investments, commercial real estate loans, home loans including first mortgages and HELOCs, private equity capital call lines, unsecured loans, foreign exchange and derivatives
